Providence is the capital of Rhode Island and although it is the smallest say it historically was one of the first ones to gain its independence. This independent attitude continues on in the overall attitude of this city. There are 3 top colleges and universities located in Providence and according to a company that does property management Providence or Providence property management, they are some of the best schools in the country. The three schools that will be discussed here are Providence College, Brown University and RISD.

Providence College is the only college in the US that’s run by the Dominican Friars, a Catholic religious order. This does not mean that you have to be Catholic to go here it is just the history of the school that has continued on . Because of the sense of spirituality on campus, the college greatly encourages service to others by requiring all of the students participate in community service. It was recently named in the top ten schools for the Great Schools, Great Prices section for it’s academic quality to cost ratio.

Brown University is one of the most prestigious Ivy League schools in America located right in Providence. It has just under 6000 undergraduate students, 1500 graduate and 340 in the medical school. This school was started as the only school at the time that welcomed students of all religious backgrounds. In the 60’s it created the uncommon curriculum that it still uses this day where the students design their own curriculum choosing the courses they want to take. The students at Brown are known to be innovative, creative and intellectually restless and liberal arts based structure works great for them. Numerous famous alumni from Brown are proud to call itsay it is their alma mater and if you’re fortunate enough to be admitted to this prestigious school, think about yourself fortunate.

The last school in Providence is known as RISD which is short for the Rhode Island School of Design. It was started in 1877 for artists and designers and currently has 2200 students. The education here’s considered a holistic one that combines professional majors in the arts with a liberal arts curriculum with literature, social sciences and humanities. RISD students are encouraged to be environmentally conscious when they make their art or pieces of work as that’s a big component of the school. For a lot of artistic students, RISD is the ultimate art school to attend and blends in well with the more liberal city of Providence.

All of these schools are very different from each another and if you live in Providence and wish to stay there, there’s definitely a school for everyone here. Providence is in an best location on the East Coast close to all kinds of things that are in close proximity to this special capital city making it a great place to live. If your child attends one of these above schools, you might want to consider purchasing a property for them to use while there as a good financial investment.
